Dessie Shelton Matthews

Dessie Shelton Matthews, age 95, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 in Johnson City, TN. She was born in Horse Pasture, VA and a resident of Ocean Springs for 25 years. She was a resident of Johnson City, TN for the past three years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for five years and also a member of the First Baptist Church of Windsor Park in Gulf Hills, MS. Dessie is preceded in death by her son, Dixie Earl Shelton, Jr.; her first husband of 50 years, Dixie Earl Shelton; and her second husband, Matt Matthews. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Peter) Montanti; her son, Dale (Linda) Shelton; her sister, Evelyn Walker; and her three grandchildren, Chad David Shelton, Shana Kelly Green, and Justin Montanti. Visitation will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a 3:00 p.m. chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
