Mr. Donald R. “Don” Ford, age 88, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 in Biloxi, MS. Mr. Ford was born on October 17, 1929 in New Orleans, LA. He was a loving husband and father, and was devoted to his loving wife June of 52 years and to his children, Patrick and Kathleen. Mr. Ford graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans, LA and attended Tulane University on a football scholarship. He was a member of Jesuit High School 1946 Louisiana State Champion football team. That same year he was selected to the All City, the All State, as well as to the All Southern football team. In 1954 legendary coach Gernon Brown of Jesuit named Mr. Ford to his “All Time” Jesuit High School football team covering his coaching years, 1933-1952. In 1980, the Times-Picayune/The States Item New Orleans Newspapers selected all decade football teams for each decade from the 1920’s through the 1960’s and Mr. Ford was selected for the Forties All Decade team. Mr. Ford served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Rendova, operating out of Tsingtau, China. He was employed by Ford Motor Co for 25 years and purchased his own dealership in 1980 “Don Ford Inc.” Mr. Ford sold Don Ford Inc. in June of 1994 and retired from the automobile business. After retiring, Mr. Ford increased his real estate holdings. Mr. Ford has been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Biloxi since 1985. In June 2004 he received an Apostolic Blessing from His Holiness Pope John Paul II. Mr. Ford is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius L. Ford, Sr. and Norma Meyers Ford; his brother, Cornelius L. Ford, Jr.; and sister, Norma Ford Lowery. He is survived by his wife, June Bonck Ford of Biloxi; children, Patrick Michael Ford and Kathleen Shannon Ford, both of New Orleans, LA; and one grandson, Carter Adam Klassen Ford of Ankeny, Iowa. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Jesuit High School, 4133 Banks St, New Orleans, LA 70119 in his memory or to a charity of your choice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Friends may visit one hour prior. Visitation will be held in New Orleans at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until Mass time at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, LA. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
