Donald "Sunny” Munro, II, age 63, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018. He was born in Biloxi, MS in 1955 and was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Sunny graduated high school from Suwanee Academy in TN and Attended the University of Southern Mississippi for Business Administration. He worked in the family business with his father, Donald C. Munro, I, at Munro Oil & Paint Co. which later became Munro Petroleum Co. Sunny was also a realtor for Keller-Williams for several years on the Gulf Coast. He was a member of the Mardi Gras Crew of Mithris, the Biloxi Jaycee's, the Biloxi Yacht Club, the Red Cross, and was active in rotary for many years as well. Sunny was a volunteer for the Ship Island Excursions in which he enjoyed meeting people from all over the world while enjoying the ride with his best friend, Captain Louis Skrmetta. His other favorite activities included attending Perry Stone & John Kilpatrick Ministry Crusades and being an avid follower of Jesus Christ with his wife, Julia. Sunny was also involved in jail ministry in Gulfport, MS for several years and supported various ministries always helping others. He never saw obstacles in life, he always found solutions with his wonderful attitude and entertaining personality and he loved to travel, enjoying life to the fullest. If you ever asked Sunny how he was doing... His upbeat response was always "Fantastic!”.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Stagg Munro; son, Chase Munro, III; daughters, Laura Munro, Stephanie Hankins, and Savanah Hankins; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Branda T. Baxter and son Michael; sister, Deveaux M. Carter and husband Bobby and their daughters, Ashley and Amelie Davis; and many other nieces & nephews who will greatly miss him along with numerous friends and co-workers.
Private services will be held.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
