Dora Alece Schwed

Dora Schwed passed peacefully at home, Sunday morning, March 15, 2020. Her son, John, along with her daughter-in-law Renee and 3 grandchildren were by her side. Her pet “Schatzi” was nearby for comfort. Dora and her husband were longtime residents of Mississippi. She has lived with John and Renee, in their Utah home, for the past 3 years. Dora was a military wife, living and traveling the world where she was always a Red Cross volunteer at military hospitals. She belonged to Eastern Star and was President of the Homemakers Club, in Ocean Springs. Miss Dora could also make or bake anything while her custom-made suits, bridal dresses and many hand stitched quilts were well known. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends at Belle Fountain Baptist Church. Dora was preceded in death, by her husband, SMSgt Fred C. Schwed; and two daughters, Frances Hess and Alice M. Byrd. Dora was the mother of four, including Frances, Alice, Nancy (Alan) Bixby and John (Renee) Schwed. She was grandma to 10 and great grandma to 15. Dora has one living sister, Peggy Hager (97 years of age) of Yale, OK. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Belle Fountain Baptist Church. Dora will be reunited with her husband at Biloxi National Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
