Edna May Leggett Smith, nickname " Peaches", age 82, of Vancleave, MS, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at her home. Edna was born in Brookhaven, MS on March 27, 1939, to Jack E. & Bessie L. Leggett. She attended Brookhaven High School and was a self employed Cosmetologist, a receptionist with Oschner Medical and later on a skilled florist. Her hobbies included sports, traveling the world and experiencing new countries with her husband and their children. Once back in the US she enjoyed her time at Oschner Medical checking patients into the Internal Medicine unit. As a cosmetologist, she enjoyed styling hair and later on making floral arrangements. She loved gardening and playing cards or a competitive game of scrabble with her family, as well as coloring with her grandchildren or lounging in the pool on a warm, sunny day. Edna loved listening to Pavarotti or the Saints game with her husband and spending time in the kitchen cooking with her grandchildren. She was an incredible and generous woman and will be missed most dearly by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack E. & Bessie L. Leggett and her siblings, Rena Leggett Smith, Frank Leggett, Mary Leggett Muirhead, Patricia Anne Kennedy, Evelyn Wolbrecht and Peggie Gene Leggett Applewhite. Survivors include her spouse, Melvin Smith Sr., children, Melissa Smith Johnson, Michelle Smith Hutner, Melvin Smith Jr., grandchildren, Jerry Heath Douglas, Whitney Douglas, Lance Becker, Nathan Teske, Nicholas Becker and Kelsey Smith, great- grandchildren, Trey Allo, Brennan Allo, Gianna Douglas, Caleb Allo, Raeanna Mackalica, Mila Lalita Isabella Delgado, Connor Melvin Becker, Carsyn Teske and Pyper Teske, sibling, Myrtle Leggett McDavid and pets, Ted & Max. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
