Mr. Edwin John Jacquet, Jr., 92, of Biloxi, MS passed away at home with family Sunday, August 12, 2018. Mr. Jacquet was a longtime native of the coast and grew up with a love of the water. He is part of the greatest generation through his time in WWII where he served in the 90th infantry. Once he returned home, he met and married the love of his life Lois Rose Reynolds who he lost in 2011. Edwin was a carpenter, boat builder, and a shrimper where he helped build several boats along the Gulf Coast, and worked on several. In his early years, he built a small boat named after the love of his life the Lois Rose, then later in life with his son, Edwin Kurt Jacquet, Sr. by his side, whom he lost in 1986, built the (All My Children) named for the love of his family with both of the boats he participated and won numerous Blessings of the Fleets. He was inducted into the Seafood Hall of Fame for being a home/backyard wooden boat builder in 2014. Mr. Jacquet and his wife owned and operated the Ocean Springs Marine Mart from 1978-1991. He is a 20 year retiree from AFFEES where he made a wonderful group of friends. Mr. Jacquet was a life member of the Elks Lodge 606, VFW, American Legion Post 1992, 40/8. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Magnolia Lodge, member of Shriners, the founder of the Poor Man's Yacht Club, past King of the Young Matrons, and VFW. He is preceded in death by his parents, Honner and Edwin Jacquet, Sr; siblings, Sophie, Honner, Ferndel, and Clyde; granddaughters, Rose Holliman and Tina Reeves; grandson, Nicholas Brandon Kostmayer; and great-granddaughter, Magdalene Rose Marshall. Survivors include his daughters, Lois (Harry) Kostmayer, Sr., Carolyn (Tom) Holliman, Gloria (Ronnie) Kostmayer, Sr., and Beatrice Jacquet; grandchildren, Cheryl (George) Terry, Cherie Broome, Harry Kostmayer, Jr., Kevin (April) Kostmayer, Heather (Jacques) Gacquet, Heidi Terrell, Kurt Jacquet, Hope (JJ) Saucier, Misty (Jon) Marshall, Stephanie (Tim) Anderson, Ronnie (Claire) Kostmayer, and Chris (Erica) Kostmayer; nineteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; and his very close family friend, Grady Gibbs. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Saad Hospice. Services will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
