Elba Smolcich

Elba Smolcich, age 82, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 in Ocean Springs, MS. She was born April 8, 1935 in Biloxi, MS. She graduated from St. Martin High School and attended to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She was a member of several social groups, including the Business Professional Women's Association, Ingalls Management Association, the Slavonian Ladies Auxiliary, the French Club, and the Red Hat Club. She was also a Breast Cancer Survivor and volunteered at the hospital. She retired from Ingalls Shipyard and Jackson County. She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Elba is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Smolcich, Sr.; her parents, Edward R. and Edna O. Seymour; her brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Doris Seymour; her nephew, Randall Seymour. Survivors include her son, Sammy (Cindy Collisi) Smolcich; her daughter, Maria (Jay) Hindmarch; her grandchildren, Miranda (Michael) Lancon, Chris (Erin) Hindmarch, Jessica Hindmarch; her great-grandchildren, Dylan Butler, Chelbi Cates, Vivienne Hindmarch; her brother, Gerald (Linda) Seymour; her nieces, Michelle and Melissa; her nephews, Gordon Seymour and Arnie (Shelley) Seymour. Visitation will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., with a Memorial Mass at 1:00 p.m., all at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Flowers can be sent to the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, or donations can be made to Breast Cancer.
