Elie Japlin Hebert, 86, of Biloxi, died Saturday, January 26, 2019, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Hebert was born in Gueydan, LA, and had been a longtime resident of Biloxi. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years as a medic and worked at the Biloxi VA for 25 years. Mr. Hebert was a huge LSU Tigers fan, whom bled purple and gold. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and for never meeting a stranger.
Mr. Hebert was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Kathleen Hebert; parents, Elie and Lydia Hebert; two sons, Tony and Paul Michael Hebert; and two brothers, Milton and Ivy Hebert.
Survivors include four children: daughter, Vicki (Mark) Howard, daughter, Ann-Marie (David) Leckich, of Biloxi, son, Bryan (Linda) Hebert and son, Ivy (Lisa) Hebert, of Gulfport; seven grandchildren, Mark-David (Amanda) Howard, Chad (Tricia) Howard of Gulfport, Victoria Leckich of Biloxi, Becca Hebert of Atlanta, Jessi Hebert of Gulfport, Jania (Michael) Adams and Jason Hebert, of Biloxi; five great-grandchildren, Lexi Killebrew, Annalie and Maddox Howard of Gulfport, Faith and Anchor Adams of Biloxi, Chad Howard Jr. (TC) of Gulfport; and two sisters, Wilda Sanders and Arthurine Hebert.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Nativity B.V.M. Elementary School.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral where friends may call two hours before service time. Burial will be in Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
