Emil Raymond Telschow, Sr. left this earth on August 26, 2021, at the age of 91, while being cared for at the Singing River Hospital in Gulfport, MS. Ray was the second child born to his father, Emil Herman Telschow, and his mother, “Minnie” Othiela (Frenzel) Telschow on September 10, 1929, in Houston, TX. As a child and in his youth, he was nicknamed "Sonny" by his friends and family. When he was older and until his passing, he was "Ray" to his wife, family, new friends and acquaintances. In August of 1950, Ray met Carol Elizabeth Mikeska in Houston, TX. They were engaged quickly. Shortly after, Ray signed up to join the Navy because of the Korean War, about October 1950. He left his new fiancé to head to the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego, CA. On an unexpected leave, they were married on January 17, 1951, in Houston, TX. Afterwards he and Carol left for San Diego, CA. Several months later, he was deployed ship side to the USS George Clymer until the war ended in July 1953. He served for a total of four years and was honorably discharged. During his time in the Navy Ray enjoyed seeing many interesting and exotic places while deployed. After his discharge, Ray attended College at The University of Houston. He worked hard and received degrees in both Mechanical & Electrical Engineering while working side jobs to support his and Carol's growing family. In his life Ray was employed as a stock boy, salesman, and Railroad employee among other jobs until he completed his college degrees. Eventually he got into the field of Roofing and worked for several different companies and Corporations as a Plant Engineer, a Corporate Engineer, an Engineering Consultant. At his passing Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith and belief in Jesus Christ have Always been strong. He was so very grateful to his Savior for His sacrifice, His grace, His love and His forgiveness of his sins. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Minnie Telschow; His sisters; Lillian Northcutt and Naomi Gunnells; His brothers, August "Mutsy" Telschow and Clarence "C.A." Telschow; And his son, Emil Raymond "Ray" Telschow Jr. Ray is survived by his beautiful wife, Carol Telschow of Biloxi, MS; His children: Chris and Gary Murphy Sr. of Biloxi, MS- Their two children & eight grandchildren; Lana Telschow (Ray Jr.'s Wife) of Destrehan, LA- Their two boys & seven grandchildren; Frank and Irma Telschow of Ft. Worth, TX; Donna and Rod McCrory- Their Three boys & seven grandchildren; Tammy and Gary Grant of Cowley, WY- Their eleven children & seventeen and one on the way grandchildren; and Era and Alan Hill of Ft. Worth, TX- Their three boys and one grandchild on the way. And also, many nieces’ nephews, and cousins. We will all miss his love and physical presence in their lives, until we meet again. Services will be held September 10, 2021 at Bradford - O’Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Rd, Biloxi, MS. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 with funeral services following from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Interment will be held promptly at 2:30pm at the Biloxi National Cemetery (a Military cemetery), at 400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi, MS. The service will be live streamed and will appear on the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home Facebook page at 12:30 PM sharp September 10, 2021 where it will remain for family and friends to view at time of service as well as later for those who cannot attend in person. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road in Biloxi, is honored to serve the Telschow family.
