MSgt. Ernest “Dan” Russell, 83, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.
Mr. Russell was a long time resident of D’Iberville, MS. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a MSgt after 20 years of service, earning a Bronze Star in the Vietnam War. He joined the Biloxi Police Department in 1975 and retired in 1995. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Criminal Justice. Dan was an avid golfer and a Deacon of Temple Baptist Church of Biloxi, MS. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; Luther and Nora Russell; and a son, John Michael Russell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Russell; children, Ernest “Rusty” Russell, Jr., Randall (Betty) Russell, David (Julie) Russell, James Edward “Eddie” (Stacy) Russell, and Robin (David) Green; grandchildren, Kristen (Chad) Pickich, Nickelle (Jarrod) Ely, Nicole (Michael) Gehl, Scott Russell, Nicholas Russell, Ryann Russell, Joshua Russell, Ariel (Tori) Russell, Cameron Russell, and Peyton Russell; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home with a service to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Biloxi VA National Cemetery with full military honors. A Memorial Fellowship will be held following the burial at Temple Baptist Church, 1860 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi.
