Floyd Dail Cornelius

Floyd Dail Cornelius, USAF retired, age 98, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Moss Point, MS. Floyd was born on October 3, 1919 in Washington, IN to John Herschel and Helen Edwards Cornelius. He was a longtime resident of Jackson County and a member of McClellan Road Baptist Church. Floyd retired from the U.S. Air force after 25 years of service after which he worked at the Broadwater Beach Hotel for 20 years. Grandpa will be missed by all that loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Ellie Cornelius and his wife of 11 years, Margaret Cornelius; children, James C. Duke, Francis Penfield, and William Duke; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and 3 grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Helen Ames, Ruth Frazier, and Diane Seymour; 21 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Gerry and Gordon Cornelius. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to granddaughter, Elaine Hyre for her selfless time and loving care. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
