Freda Marie Stallone

Freda Marie Stallone, age 88, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Daphne, AL. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Natchez, MS. After graduation, she and her husband, Lt. Col. Meno Joseph Stallone Jr., were stationed at numerous Air Force bases throughout the Southeast. They subsequently made their home in Biloxi, MS and became longtime residents of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Freda had a true servant heart and was an active member of Fatima Church, volunteering for over 20 years with Saint Vincent DePaul. Her family was her top priority, making sure that hot meals were prepared and enjoyed together as a family. She ensured that her children went to church on Sundays and as they grew older, she and Meno traveled to see them, their grandchildren and extended family and friends wherever they were. Freda worked as a census taker, prepared and coordinated meals for church leaders and those church members who suffered loss and worked on fundraisers for Fatima Church. Freda enjoyed her time at Bible study as well as tennis and bridge with life-long friends. She was a patient, grace filled lady with a great sense of humor. Freda was a loving wife who was slow to anger and was an amazing, loving mother to her children. She was a treasure and true blessing who was loved dearly by all who knew her. She will be forever and greatly missed. Freda is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Meno Joseph Stallone Jr.; her parents, Henry Adrian Sandel and Ruth Mary Doherty; her brothers, Billy, Lewie, and Sonny; her sisters, Liz Smith and LuLu Wilson; her son, Michael Joseph Stallone; and her daughter, Judith Ann Johnston. She is survived by her children, David Wayne Stallone (Cheryl), Ruth Diane Dollar (Ed), Dolores Stallone Houseman (Tim), and Donna Marie Stallone (Jesse); her brother, Walter Sandel (Peggy); her son-in-law, Steve Johnston; six grandchildren, Jennifer Wilcox, Bennett Johnston, Katie Richardson, Christopher and Brittany Houseman, and Logan Stallone as well as 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Biloxi National Cemetery beginning promptly at 2:30 pm. A gathering of friends and family will follow the service at the family home. A Memorial Mass will also be held at St. Mary’s Basilica in Natchez, MS on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with a mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s, after which there will be a graveside ceremony at the Natchez City Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the home of Bobby and Jennifer Smith. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
