Frederick John Lusk, Jr.

Frederick John Lusk, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2021, surrounded by friends and family. Fred was born on February 26, 1945, to Frederick "Freddie" John Lusk, Sr. and Vera Baker Lusk. Fred grew up on the "Point" in Biloxi, along with his two siblings, Frank R. Lusk and Ann E. Lusk. After graduating from Biloxi High School in 1963, Fred attended the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating in 1967, with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, while also receiving a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army through the ROTC program. Fred married the late Diane Hartmann in 1966, and they had two sons, Frederick J. Lusk, III, and Scott H. Lusk. After attending and graduating as an honor graduate from a Military Police Officer course at Fort Gordon, Georgia, in September 1967, Fred was then assigned to the European Honor Guard for the United States Army from October 1967, through April 1969. Fred subsequently completed a Paratrooper course and then became Military Police company commander for the 8th Infantry Division in Europe, while achieving the rank of Captain from the United States Army. During this time, Fred traveled all throughout Europe, culminating with the birth of his eldest son while being stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. After being discharged from the Army, Fred attended and graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in December 1973, and then returned home to start the practice of law. In December 1977, Fred married Jill David of Biloxi, and their family instantaneously grew with the addition of Jill's two sons, Brian K. Sidaway and Robert Kevin Sidaway. Fred and Jill then had two daughters together, Mandy E. Lusk and Kelli M. Lusk. Fred practiced law in Biloxi where he was known as "Fast Freddie." The majority of his practice was in criminal defense, but he was always available to provide advice to his clients on a multitude of legal issues. Fred took great delight in offering Biloxians an open door for assistance with their legal needs. Fred and Jill lived a great life on their farm in Stone County with countless exotic animals and had many special times. Fred especially enjoyed the Clydesdale horses and Ben, the chimpanzee. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Vera (Baker) Lusk. Fred is survived by his wife, Jill; his sons, Fred, Brian (Kristin), Scott (Misty) and Kevin (Emma); his grandchildren; his siblings, Frank (Paula) and Ann; as well as daughters, Mandy (Keith) and Kelli. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's research hospital on his behalf. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Ave., Biloxi.
