Gabriel DeGregorio, Sr. passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the age of 86.
Mr. DeGregorio was born on July 7, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to Pasquale and Angelina DeGregorio. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Biloxi, MS. He immediately felt at home in Biloxi and it was during this time that he met and married the love of his life, JoeAnn Kornman DeGregorio. They had four children together. Mr. DeGregorio was a family man and kept the tradition of coming together each Sunday at their home on Seal Avenue for fellowship and large Italian Family Dinners.
He spent his career as a barber and owner of Gabe’s Haircutting in the Vieux Marche in Downtown Biloxi. Many of his clients became lifelong friends. Mr. DeGregorio spent the remainder of his days with his family, meeting his buddies for coffee and making his rounds to the local casinos. Even though he became a local of this area, he held on to some of his Italian and New York roots all of his days, the biggest one being his love of all things Frank Sinatra and in particular the song, “My Way”.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoeAnn Kornman DeGregorio; his parents, Pasquale and Angelina DeGregorio; his brothers, Joe DeGregorio and Dominick DeGregorio; and his sisters, Francis Paino and Antoinette Venditti.
Mr. DeGregorio’s survivors include his daughters, Angela (Juan) Hebert, Vickie (Rick) Lyons, and Denise DeGregorio; his son, Gabriel (Kimberly) DeGregorio; his grandchildren, Heather and Jordan Hebert, Drew and Adam Lyons, Brie Hollinger and Isabella DeGregorio; his great-grandchild, Adyson Hollinger; and his sister, Louise (Pete) Longhitano.
The family would like to thank Angela and Juan Hebert who lovingly cared for him the past 8 years at their home as he succumbed to his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Funeral Services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Friends may visit from 1:00 pm until service time. A private interment will be held at Southern Memorial Park.
