George "Giggles" Michael Sekul

George (Giggles) Michael Sekul passed away on October 28, 2017, at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family. George was born on June 12, 1941 in Biloxi, MS and remained a lifelong residence on the MS Gulf Coast. He is preceded in death by his parents George (Rushie) Sekul and Agnes (Semski) Sekul and his brother Stevie (Maroono) Sekul. George is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 30 years Marilynn (Maggard) Sekul. His brothers and sisters: Thomas Sekul, Carolyn (Chuck) Mooney, Morris (Susan) Sekul, and Bettye (Michael)Dennery. His seven children who always admired and respected him: Tamye (Joe) Richard, Kristy Sekul, Sherry (Randall) Smith, Malynda (Robert) Burdett, Glynda (Chava) Dela Rosa, Carman (Shannon) Beech, and Chad Beech; as well as his seventeen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many other family members. The Sekul family have been members of St. Michael since the early 1900's, and George continued the tradition as he was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church for his entire life. He graduated from Biloxi High School and proceeded to attend and graduate from USM in Hattiesburg with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. While attending USM, he played four years. He was on the USM football team that won the1962 UPI National Championship. He remained an Alumni until he passed and his name remains in the USM Hall of Fame. George was an employee of Rex Distributing Company for over 30 years and retired in 2007. When thinking of George, anyone who knows him knows that his passion was to be on the water. He loved to take his family and friends out to the islands or up the river. In his later years, if he couldn't be on his boat then he would sit for hours on his boat dock and enjoy the beautiful view or tinker on a motor. There are so many memories of times spent with him on the water or at the Mud Hut. George was a loyal and caring husband to his wife, a good and admired father to his seven children and their spouses, and a great papa who always has ice cream or candy for his many grandchildren. George had many lifelong friends that respected him and he will be remembered with a smile on their face and a memory in their minds. The service to honor and celebrate George's life will be held at Saint Micheal Catholic Church located at 177 First Street Biloxi, MS 39530 on November the 4th. The visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m, and the funeral mass will be celebrated beginning at 10:00 a.m. A private ceremony will be held at later date for burial. Family and friends are welcome after the Mass to visit with the family at 9121 Edgewater Boulevard, Ocean Springs,MS 39564. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to Saint Michael Catholic Church be made in George's name.
