George Joseph Krebs

George Joseph Krebs, age 90, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Gulfport, MS. He was born September 9, 1926 to Joseph E. and Mary Elizabeth Ryan Krebs. He graduated from Linsey Hopkins High School in Miami, FL in 1947. George had many employment accommodations, including the Lumiena of Light Award. He worked at Bell South, Miami Teletype, Radar Repair, Florida Light & Repair, and Electrician at Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a Frame Jockey and past member of the Holy Names, St. Vincent de Paul, and a Eucharistic Minister. He served in World War II, the United States Navy from 1943-1946, and was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1950-1968. He enjoyed fly-fishing, hunting, tying flies, and wood-working. He was an avid reader, Boy Scout Leader, Secretary of Cub Scouts, and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. George is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. Krebs and Mary Krebs; his spouse, Virginia R. Krebs (married in 1949 in Miami); his daughter, Virginia Catherine Krebs; his son-in-law, Ned Peresich; his siblings, Thomas Krebs, Joseph Krebs, Rosie Krebs, Mary Joe Krebs, and Larry Krebs; and his pet, Baron. Survivors include his children, Thomas W. (Margarita) Krebs, George F. (Lisa) Krebs, John D. (Larry) Krebs, and Karen G. Peresich; his grandchildren, George Arrospide, Ann Hernandez, Gira Arrospide, Alexander Krebs, Joel Krebs, Anna Krebs, and Jacqueline (Paul) Dodd; and his great-grandchildren, Olan M. Dodd and Aurora Dodd. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer if friends and family would make donations to a charity of their choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Deaconess Home Health Care, the Staff of the 5th Floor at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, and the staff of the 3rd Floor at Garden Park Hospital. Memorial Mass will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marion Chapel of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
