Geraldean "Gerry" Higgins Carpenter

Geraldean "Gerry" Higgins Carpenter, age 88, of Vancleave, MS, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021, in Gautier, MS. Gerry was born on August 4, 1932, in Tuscumbia, AL, to Benny and Lassie Higgins. She retired as a tube inspector for Zenith. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Al Carpenter, son, Alan Richardson, three sisters, Sylvia, Imogene and Aileen and a brother, Benny Jr. "B.L.". Survivors include a daughter, Susan Berryman of Vancleave, MS, two sons, Billy Richardson, Jr. and Phillip Richardson, both of Memphis, TN, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Robert Higgins of Hamilton, AL. A private family service will take place at a later time. Interment will be on Wheeler Mountain in Tuscumbia, AL. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the American Legion Post #42, 700 Ward Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Riverchase Village in Gautier, MS and to Tradition Health Hospice. Special thanks also to Tawanna Abrams and Meredith Korze for their compassion and care. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
