Gladys Krohn Duggan, age 87, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 in Kentucky.
Mrs. Duggan was born on January 16, 1931 in Algiers, LA to Julis “Jimmy” Krohn of Biloxi, MS and Ida Lauland of Algiers. She was a 1947 graduate of Berhman High School in Algiers. In 1949 she married Charles J. Duggan, Jr. of Biloxi. They were married for 53 years and resided in Biloxi until Hurricane Katrina, when they moved to Kentucky. Mrs. Duggan worked at the Navy Yard in Algiers and later at Keesler Air Force Base as a stenographer until 1954. Thereafter, she devoted herself to volunteer work. She was a volunteer at Morningstar Pregnancy Crisis Center for 10 years, taught CCD classes at St. John’s Catholic Church for 40 years, where she was also in the choir and the Altar Society. Mrs. Duggan was a 3rd Order Carmelite, the Knights of Columbus Mother of the Year in 1971 and the Lions Mother of the Year in 1972. She loved flowers, art, reading and especially her little dog, Bailey.
Mrs. Duggan’s survivors include her sister, Ethel Smith; her children, Marian Duggan, Charles (Alice) Duggan, III, Paul (Cindy) Duggan, Thomas (Lesley) Duggan and Julie (Henry) Muse; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity BVM Cathedral on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until mass time. Entombment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
