Glenda Aileen Dawkins, age 87 passed away on January 18, 2021 at Ocean Springs Hospital.
She was born in Louin, MS on December 15, 1933. She graduated with honors from Hickory High School in Hickory, MS. She and her husband, Robert, moved to the coast with their first daughter, Mirinda, for Robert’s new job opportunities at Ingall’s shipbuilding. They later had two more children, Robert Jr. and Rochelle, and lived in Gautier for forty years. Glenda later moved to Vancleave, MS but continued to be a faithful member of First United Methodist Church and an active member of Women’s Circle Group. She retired from Sears after twenty-seven years of service. She loved to cook, sew, tend to her plants, and spend time with her loved ones.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Ruth Perry; sister, Mary Jo Perry; and husband, Robert D. Dawkins, Sr.
She is survived by her daughters, Mirinda R. Dawkins of Vancleave, MS and Rochelle (John) Daley of Vancleave, MS; son, Robert (Rose) D. Dawkins, Jr. of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Deanna (Matt) Phillips, Katie Dawkins, Nicole Daley, and Heather Daley; siblings, Peggy (Walter) Denny of Madison, MS and Allen (Jane) Perry of Woodstock, GA; and her beloved dogs, Missy Baby and Wiggles.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Demetric Bass who took excellent care of Glenda during her last years at home and to all of the other caregivers for helping take care of her.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
