Gloria Jean “Mama Genie” Kovach, 73, of Biloxi, MS passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Biloxi.
Ms. Kovach was born August 30, 1944 in Warner Robins, GA to Alfred and Stella Chesney. She was the owner and operator of Naturally You Cosmetics. Known as “Genie Sheffer”, she did make up for some of the biggest Mardi Gras Balls on the Gulf Coast, as well as for many celebrities for television and special events. In her later years, she switched professions and worked in Holistic Healing, Massage Therapy and Reflexology. Ms. Kovach was a very dedicated mother to Terry, Ronnie and Brian, raising them as a single mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ms. Kovach’s survivors include her special friend, Jack Ragsdale; her children, Terry Babcock, R.J. Chesney and Brian (Kelley) Parson; her grandchildren, Brandon Wedgeworth, Clarissa (Adam) Talley, Gabbie (Keagen) Sonnier, Lauren Parson, Breanna Parson and Drake Parson; her great-grandchildren, Jace Sittig, Addison, Dean and Brantley Talley; her sister, Sheila Farr; her aunt, Grace Johnston; her cousins, Linda Bond, Libby Richmond and Tommy Killgore; and her four legged friend, Baby Girl.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Lighthouse at the Old Broadwater Marina on the beach. For service further information, please contact R.J. Chesney at 818-613-2428.
