Gordon "Digger" Julius Tiblier, Sr.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 13, 2021, Mr. Gordon “Digger” Julius Tiblier Sr., passed away in his sleep after a long illness. He was 73 years old, a lifelong resident of Biloxi, and a graduate of Biloxi High School. Digger was a Biloxian from birth, and grew up on Lee Street. He married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Jade Davis Tiblier. Together they raised three children in Biloxi. He served briefly in the Mississippi National Guard. He is best known, however, for his days as the sexton of the Old Biloxi Cemetery where he earned the nickname, Digger. He enjoyed Mardi Gras, the Saints and Ole Miss football, fishing, telling stories (some true, some not), and a good pot of gumbo. Upon retirement, he lived simply and peacefully on the Biloxi River. Digger is preceded in death by his dear wife of 48 years, Cheryl, and his daughter, Millie, as well as his parents, Junnie and Iva Tiblier, and two older sisters, Sherrie Helveston and Sondra Fallo. He leaves behind his daughter, Laurie (John-Paul) Burlison of Tennessee, his son, Gordon “B.G.” Tiblier Jr. of Biloxi, and his brother, Mark Tiblier of California. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Justyn Tiblier, Jerry Michael Duggan Jr., Jade Cooley, Gordon “Trey” Tiblier III, Eli Burlison, Georgia Burlison; his great-grandchildren; and a slew of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 4:00 pm. Visitation is from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
