Harby Kreeger Jr. lost his courageous battle with cancer at his home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on January 3, 2020.
He was born on May 14, 1943 in New Orleans to Harby and Ruth Kreeger. He spent his childhood on the Mississippi Gulf Coast fishing and boating which fostered his lifelong love of being near water.
He graduated from Gulfport High School and attended Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans. He went into the family business rising to President of Kreeger’s working there for 20 years. His strong math acumen and sharp business mind made for a natural transition to become a Financial Advisor for 32 years most recently as a Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley. He especially enjoyed working alongside his son for the last 20 years.
He is survived by his faithful wife of 51 years, Dianne, and his three children Kristin (William), Lisa (Richard), and Michael (Kirstie). He was the proud Papa to six grandchildren William Hays IV, John Hall Hays, Hudson Hays, Regan Kendrick, Sophia Kreeger, and Winston Kreeger.
He had several hobbies that brought him great joy including fishing, travel, and sports especially the Tigers, Saints, and Yankees and a passion for Bordeaux wine. He was a member of the Commanderie de Bordeaux for 46 years serving as Maitre for 15 years.
In lieu of flowers, consider donating to a charity of your choice in his name. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and friends who stood by him in this battle, especially Peggy Langenback during his greatest time of need. In his memory, raise a glass of your finest claret.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana at 3:00 pm, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is assisting in the arrangements.
