Harry Benedict Lamas, 91, of Latimer, passed away on Friday, December 1st, 2017 in Biloxi, MS.
He was born May 19, 1926 in Mobile, AL and was a long time resident of Jackson County. He graduated from Woolmarket High School in 1944. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He served in the United States Army in the European theater during WWII under General Patton and was of the Catholic faith.
Harry retired from civil service at Keesler Air Force Base, Supply Division as Material Facilities Officer.
He is preceded by his parents, George and Nellie Lamas; his brothers, Roy (Catherine) Lamas, James Lamas, George Lamas, and Vincent (Blanche) Lamas; his sisters, Helen (Clinton) McQueen, Mary (Everett) Scarborough, Rita (John) Moore, and Nellie (James) Cobb.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie Iris Lamas; his son, Arlie Lamas; his daughters, Rene Geraldi, and Angela (Stan) Jones; his grandchildren, Brandon Lamas, Amber Poulos, Brent (Angela) Jones, Elliott Jones; his great-grandchildren, Cameron Poulos and Andrew Poulos; and his step great-grandchild, Garron Waltman.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Paul Pavlov, Biloxi VA Home Base Primary Care Unit, and the VA Community Living Center (Delaware Unit) for excellent care given to Harry.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a 2:00 p.m. chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
