Harry Lee Steinwinder, our loving brother and uncle, peacefully passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father in his home on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the age of 84. He was born in Biloxi, Mississippi and attended Sacred Heart Academy and Biloxi High School. In 1952, Mr. Steinwinder attended Seminary College in St. Benedict, Louisiana for two years and in 1956, enlisted in the military where he served for 7 years. After his time in the service he attended Jackson Barber College in Jackson, Mississippi and following his return to Biloxi, opened Harry's Barber Shop where he retired in December 2018. Mr. Steinwinder was a founding member of the former St. Louis Parish and was currently a member, Eucharist Minister and Catholic Commentator of the Blessed Frances Xavier Seelos Parish. Mr. Steinwinder was a member of the Biloxi Knights of Columbus Council 1244 where he served as the financial secretary for 44 years.
Mr. Harry Steinwinder was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie F. Steinwinder Sr. and Rita L. Steinwinder and sister, Rose Mary Maier. He is survived by his brother, Freddie F. Steinwinder, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Steinwinder loved his God, family and dear friends and will be sadly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 12:00 noon at Blessed Frances Xavier Seelos Church where friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
