Henry J. Burkle, died Saturday, December 12, 2020, at his home in Biloxi, MS, at the age of 99. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1941. He spent his military career performing numerous duties. He graduated from Officer Candidate School at Keesler AFB. He served in World War II and served in Korea. After 28 served years of service in the United States Air Force, he worked on NASA's Apollo program as an employee of General Electric. He worked on several Apollo missions, most notably Apollo 13. He finished his working career at Ingall's Shipbuilding.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and wife of 64 years, Althea (Martino) Burkle.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lowanna Wallis (Jimmy), Mary Rulo (Tom), and Margaret Kellicut (Mike), and four grandchildren, Michelle Swanson (Billy), Jamie Tindel (Cameron), Douglas Boone, and Grace Kellicut, and two great grandchildren, Jacob Swanson and Reagan Boone.
A private interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors by the USAF.
