Mr. Henry Lee Overstreet, age 56, of Vancleave, MS, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Overstreet, a simple man, was born on November 13, 1964, in Biloxi, MS to Charles Overstreet and Nellie Bang Overstreet. He loved the simple things in life, his family being the most important. Henry loved telling stories about his childhood, growing up in church and playing music with his parents. Oh some of the stories he would tell about the trips they had while playing gospel music back in the day at revivals. He loved listening to bluegrass music, even getting long winded sometimes when telling stories about his childhood memories and his work ethic throughout the years. He would help anyone if he could and was very straight forward with everyone. Henry loved the sportsmanship of the outdoors, fishing, deer hunting and turkey hunting, his favorite. He truly loved his children and was a wonderful father. Who would have thought that on this early morning that Lena would be sitting on the front porch, with a nice breeze, gathering words for your obituary. Henry, you will be dearly missed so very much, we love you…until we meet again….love, Lena, She-She Booder and Snapper. Henry loved his wife and didn't mind at all making her happy on the farm with work that had to be done round there. Of course it was all worth it for her good tater salad and meatloaf. Anyone who knew Henry has at one time or another heard him say his favorite saying "My God Have Mercy."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Overstreet and Nellie Bang Overstreet.
Survivors include his wife, Meleana (Lena) Bang Overstreet, daughter, She-She, son, Booder, grandson, Snapper, sisters, Nell (Narvin) Seymour, Annie Ware and Trisha (Randy) Wilson and brothers, Charles Edward "Gopher" (Maryann) Overstreet, Robert Overstreet and Donald "Duck" (Donna Lynn) Overstreet.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with a service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the Vancleave Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Overstreet Cemetery at 21900 Old Biloxi Rd, Vancleave.
