Iva Joyce Randall Edwards, 87, went home to her Lord and Savior on September 29, 2021.
Joyce was a woman of great strength and character rooted in her faith, a faith that she instilled in her family. Born February 18, 1934, in Gulfport, MS, she was the fourth child of Luther Segie and Iva Curry Randall. She graduated from Gulfport High School and attended Mississippi Southern College (USM). Joyce worked at Hancock Bank, Mississippi Power Company, and retired from the University of Southern Mississippi, Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, Ocean Springs, with 23 years of service. She was a member of Burton Memorial U.M.C., Gulfport, in her early life and St Paul U.M.C., Ocean Springs, having served in various capacities through the years including youth, music, Sunday School, United Methodist Women, administrative boards and commissions, and prayer ministry. Joyce was also a member of Palmer Creek Campground Association, Saucier, MS, where the family maintains a cabin. In her life she served in various community organizations such as the Community Concert Association, Ocean Springs Garden Club, 1699 Historical Society, and Walter Anderson Museum of Art.
She was preceded in death by husband, Donald Fred Edwards; parents, Luther Segie and Iva Curry Randall; two brothers, William Gerald (infant) and L.S. Jack Randall, Jr; and one sister, Louise Randall Gordan.
Survivors include one beloved son, Randall Scott Edwards and his wife, Renee Webster Edwards; one precious grandchild, Sarah Elizabeth Edwards, who called Joyce “Lovie” and who was her grandmother’s “sweet honey baby”; and a sister-in-law, Katherine Lawrence Randall of Biloxi.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church or Palmer Creek United Methodist Campground.
Services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 800 Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS, on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior.
