James Allen "Jimmie" Rogers, age 87, a resident of Saucier, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Gulfport Care Center.
A native of Biloxi, he was born August 31, 1933, to the union of George F. Rogers, Sr. and Della Mae Rogers. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed for many years with Home Pride Dairy and Barber's Milk Company. He retired from the Biloxi VA as a sign painter.
In his earlier years he enjoyed flying. Upon retirement, he farmed blueberries and displayed his artistic talent, along with his wife, creating a much admired "Christmas Village" Room.
He leaves behind his daughters, Riki Odom (Richard), Gulfport, and Linda Lane, Saucier; grandchildren Tara Adas (Yusef), Fairhope, AL; Aaron Lane, Saucier; Megan Preston, Vancleave; Ian Odom (Jennifer), Gulfport; and Scarlett Green (Kyle), Biloxi; one great-grandson Caleb Adas, Fairhope, AL; two great-granddaughters, Rubeigh and Arizona Brown-Knight, Lizana; daughter-in-law, Nancy Rogers, Biloxi; siblings Shirley Richard (Dalton), Biloxi, and Kenneth Rogers, Pensacola, Florida, and numerous nephews, nieces, and family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Joyce A. Rogers, son David Allen "Hank" Rogers (January 4, 2021); siblings Tressa Rogers, George F. Rogers, Jr., and Joe Rogers; sisters-in-law Betty, Helen, and Jane Rogers, and nephew George F. Rogers, III.
