Jessie Maye Daugherity, age 74, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 in Ocean Springs.
She was born August 12, 1943 in Iuka, MS to Reverend Robert E. Lee Hill and Dimple Jewel Nunley. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse. She acted as a private duty nurse to many coast families and opened Mary Elizabeth Hoover Foundation for Alzheimer's patients. She also was the pianist at her church, New Fayard Chapel, which she enjoyed very much.
Jessie is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Willa Dean Petersen, Francis Peggy Whyte, James Perry Hill, Nora Faye Stevens, and Johnnie Sue Oakes.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick Daugherity; children, Norman Merle Hawkins, Deana Marie Montesanto, Victor Hershel Hawkins, and Myra Maye Seeber; and adopted grandchild, Melissa Marie Reinike.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., with a service at 1:00 p.m., all at New Fayard Chapel, 14900 Jim Ramsay Road, Vancleave, MS 39565. Interment will follow in the New Fayard Chapel Church Cemetery.
