Jimmy G. Avera

It is with great sadness that Jimmy G. Avera, Age 83, of Gulfport, Mississippi passed away on August 26, 2020 after a battle with pneumonia. He was born on March 31, 1937 to Arnold and Inez Avera in Moultrie, GA. On August 31, 1958 he married Cecilia Parker in St. Petersburgh, FL and together had two sons and a daughter. He served in the USAF for 20 years, traveling to many places including Japan and Hawaii, and then served in civil service for 10 years. After that he became ordained and pastored for the duration of his life. There were many who crossed his path that needed comfort and guidance and he was always there to inspire, support and provide peace of mind. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Avera; Son Jimmy Avera and wife, Pamela; Son Alan Avera and wife, Pamela; Daughter Sandy Johnson and husband, Ricky; 9 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Hutchinson in Florida. This week would have been Mom and Dad’s wedding anniversary of 62 Blessed years. Our dad said he would like the memory of him to be a happy celebration of his life, so that is a wish that we will definitely respect. We will reach out to family and friends for a private celebratory get together in honor of his life. Dad your memory will be like a candlelight burning forever in our hearts.
