Joan (Joanne) Mary Phelix, born January 5, 1939, age 78, died March 26, 2018. She was born in Stockholm, NY. She graduated from Parrishville-Hopkinton Central in 1957 and worked for Northern New York Trust as a secretary for four years. She enlisted in the US Air Force in 1962 and was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. During her enlistment, she worked as a medical technician in the emergency room and specialty clinics. After her enlistment she worked Civil Service as supervisor of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Keesler Hospital. Joan retired in 1997 with a total Air Force and Civil Service retirement with 34.5 years. She bowled, played and coached softball in Biloxi for several years, and was a big Atlanta Braves fan. Joan was a member of Cedar Lake Christian Assembly, Biloxi, MS since 1982 and served in many ministries there. Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Naureen Dove Phelix; father, Kenneth Phelix; and brother, Roland Phelix. Survivors include her brother, Kenneth “Jack” (Etta) Phelix of Hopkinton, NY; her sister, Donna (Paul) Tessier of Asheboro, NC; best friends, J.W. and Carolyn Webb of Ocean Springs, MS; and eight nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Lake Christian Assembly, 11555 Cedar Lake Road, Biloxi, MS 39532, followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. The Ocean Springs Chapel of BradfordO’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers a donation be made to Cedar Lake Christian Assembly.
