Johnny Hozey

John Laurence Hozey Sr. entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 19 th, 2019 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019, at 3:30 PM at Seashore Mission, Biloxi, Mississippi, with Reverend Judy Hearn Cottrell officiating. Johnny Hozey was born in Laurel, Mississippi on August 14 t , 1953 to Suzi Bergner and Ira Hozey. At an early age he found music, nurturing his natural gift for guitar and never letting it go. He went on to tour the United States and Southeast throughout his lifetime, forging friendships and deep connections with countless people who would remain close to his heart until his last breath. Loved by many, Johnny encouraged those around him every day without even trying. He inspired more people than he ever imagined through his music, passion for life, and deep love for family and friends. He had the rarest of musical talent which was appreciated far and wide. Johnny was a light to all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His sense of humor, appreciation of food, and hunger to learn from others are all qualities that added to this captivating person and his extraordinary life. Johnny had an everlasting love that not many people will ever find. Johnny will be missed but his memory will live on forever. He is survived by his children, John Laurence Hozey Jr. and Derek Hozey. As well as his brothers and sisters, Shayne Bergner, Gregory Lee Bergner, Jillian Bergner, Joshua Louis Bergner, Michele Hozey, Scott Hozey, Bill Hozey, Tom Hozey, and David Redman. He is also survived by his step-mother Patricia Hozey. Preceded in death by his parents, Suzi Bergner and Ira Hozey, his step-dad Lloyd Bergner, as well as brother Michael Hozey and sister Tia Hozey.
