Jon Thomas "Shack" Shackelford

Jon Thomas “Shack” Shackelford passed away on October 21, 2020 at the age of 44. He was native to Long Beach, MS and graduated from Long Beach High School in 1995. After high school, Jon enlisted in the US Navy where he was stationed on the USS John L Hall for 8 years, and was also a SWCC. During his time, he earned Sailor of the Year and several other awards for his dedicated service. After his service in the Navy, his love of weight training landed him in Columbus, OH where he resided as long time, and current, member of Westside Barbell as a professional powerlifter. Jon holds pro totals in several weight classes. Through his life, Jon has been a mentor and friend to people and lifters across the country and is unaware of just how many lives he has impacted. His soul will be deeply missed. Jon was preceded in death by his father, Charles Patrick Shackelford. He is survived by his daughter, Taylor Shackelford; mother, Sally Ann Miller; brother, Charles (Elaine) Shackelford; sister, Monisa Shackelford (Jay) Mooney; nephews, Daniel and Mason Mooney; and niece, Monica Favre. The visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 with services at 11:00 on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Bradford O’Keefe, 675 Howard Ave, Biloxi, MS 39530. There will be a reception after the services at the Bond Household at 8206 Clamshell Ave, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
