Joseph E. "Joey" Fountain, Jr.

Joseph E. “Joey” Fountain, Jr. went home to be with the Lord and his beloved Parents, Capt. Joseph E. Fountain, Sr and Patsy R. Fountain on April 27, 2018. Joey was a force to be reckoned with on the athletic field as a young man in high school and college and later off the field in the business world. He was a fierce competitor, yet he was compassionate, loving, wise, and strong. He loved his family, his Children and his grandchildren, and most importantly he loved his God. Joey was a typical all American guy. He lived life to the fullest. He loved sports, he was a college athlete, he loved his studies and he loved his job where he helped people from Louisiana to Alabama with tax advice or often times tax issues. Joey also liked to fish and the hunt. He loved to spend time with his boys and his girls on a fishing boat or in a hunting blind. Family, friends and clients were Joey’s world. He was always the life of the party with his antics and stories and his passion for life. He was a Gulf Coast iconic figure that will be greatly missed. He was a spiritual man with a deep faith. But, most importantly he was the loving and faithful husband of Melba Bienvenue Fountain and the devoted and caring father of Trudy, Jody, Deedy, Rodney and Stacey and a wonderful Grandfather. He lived a life with perseverance and determination because he was born a fighter as a premature baby. He handled life and setbacks with fire in his eyes and determination to overcome. Whether it was an injury that ended his athletic career in college or a hurricane that took down his businesses and homes or an engine in one of his boats that fell on his back practically crippling him, he stood up, dusted off his knees and fought back with perseverance and determination. He never quit. He never lost Faith. Quitting and feeling sorry for himself were words that would never define him. Joey was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on January 24, 1948. He was the only son of Joe and Patsy. He attended Notre Dame High School where he excelled in academics and the sports of baseball and football. He also went on to the University of Tampa where he excelled in academics and was a student athlete in Football. He earned a Doctorate of Business Administration (Taxation). He was an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and an Accredited Tax Advisor. He owned and operated an accounting firm on the Coast most of his adult life. He retired in 2012 from Joseph E. Fountain, Jr. and Co. He was a powerful and loving force and personality, business man and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Fleur De Lis Society. He was the past President of the North Bay Kiwanis and a lifelong member of Ducks Unlimited. Joey is preceded in death by his Father, Capt. Joseph E. Fountain, Sr., and his Mother Patsy Ruth Fountain. His memory is cherished by his family, especially by his wife, Melba Bienvenue Fountain, his children, Trudy D. Fountain-James and her husband Derrell James of Denver, Colorado, Joseph E. Fountain, III (Jody) and his wife Christie of Ocean Springs, Dianna Fountain Gallagher (Deedy) and her husband, Steve of Ocean Springs, Rodney Fountain and his wife Kelley of Ocean Springs and Stacey Fountain Ferrara and her husband Keith of Lantana, Texas; his grandchildren, Zachary, Seth, Jackson and Josephine (Josey)Fountain, Joshua, Julie, Jude, Job, Gloria, Joseph “Joey”, and Rose James; Joseph E.
