Julia “Gator” Maples Tuvell, 57, of Ocean Springs, MS went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 29, 2020. She passed at Ocean Springs Hospital due to respiratory complications.
Julia was born July 29, 1963 at Howard Memorial Hospital in Biloxi, MS. She was a Respiratory Therapist for over 20 years, Secretary for the God’s Gulf Riders of Gautier Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association, and spent her spare time surrounded by her friends and family. She was a loving mother and wife. She was devoted to God and never missed an opportunity to volunteer to help others in need. She also enjoyed canning, crocheting, and had been practicing for her first concert with the Ocean Springs Chorale.
Julia was preceded in death by her father, Ira L. Maples; mother, Ella Arceneaux Maples; and aunt, Ona Louise “Weesie” Lamey.
She is survived by her husband, John Keith Tuvell; children, Christopher Newbaker, Holly Newbaker, Tiffany Thomas, and Erin Bradley Tuvell; and grandchildren, Micah Bruenning and Caraline Thomas. Julia is also survived by her dear sisters, Dawn Maples Murphy, Carolyn Maples Rinker, Dorothy Schaefer, and Krystal Smith.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. for family and 9:30 a.m. for friends. Burial will follow at the Maples Family Cemetery on Jim Ramsay Rd in Latimer.
