Laurence “Larry” Dearolf, age 82, peacefully left our world on Monday, June 7, 2021 to become an angel. He is reunited with his daughter, Cynthia Sue Sherman and his parents, Charles “Leroy” & Rose Dearolf.
Larry was a triplet, born on October 25, 1938, with his sisters, Lillian and Lucille, at McKinley Hospital in Trenton, NJ. He met the love of his life, Betty, in Shreveport, LA. They married in 1959, raising three daughters and enjoyed sharing life together for over 62 years. Larry retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. His career continued for 20 years, civil service, with the U.S. Navy. He obtained a degree in History from JD College in 1991.
Larry is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughters, Donna George and Tyla Simmons; his grandchildren, Melanie Bennett, Gabriel George, Stephanie DeMarco, Jackie Sherman, Michael Sherman, Samantha Simmons, Sabrina Simmons, Christina Simmons, Colby Simmons; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He will forever be remembered for his unconditional love and dedication to making everyone around him happy and spoiled. Always offering silly phrases or funny jokes, like “That a boy-girl”, “Just checking my eyelids for leaks” or “There’s a frog under my chair” Whether riding roller coasters at Disney World, giving out rides on his motorcycle or bantering during Dallas Cowboys games, his face always held an infectious smile. “PawPaw, heaven glows brighter with your arrival. We love and miss you!”
In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be given, in his name, to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, alzfdn.org/support-us/donate
