LeRoy Manuel, Jr., affectionately known as “Peanut”, age 69 and long-time resident of Biloxi, MS went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.
Peanut, born July 15, 1951, was a graduate of Biloxi High School, Class of 1970. He recently retired after 20 years from the City of Biloxi, Port Division.
In retirement, he did what he loved most spending time at the baseball field watching his grandson play ball and eating lunch with his “lunch bunch”. He never missed a game or a meal and everyone at the ball field knew our Paw Paw.
Peanut was a devoted member of Nativity BVM Cathedral and spent the time he wasn’t at the baseball field with others in the church.
He was not only a loving Brother, Uncle and Paw Paw, but he was an adoring Father to his two daughters. To him, every person he came in contact with was a life to be celebrated. Peanut had a generous spirit and sense of humor that brought many smiles, joy and comfort to all he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Evelyn (Desporte) Manuel, Sr.
Peanut is survived by his daughters, Lisa Marie Manuel and Nicole Manuel; his sister Shirley “Tookie” Gollott (Richard); two grandsons, Tyler Vuyovich and Trey Jacquet; his nephew, Anthony Taranto (Gindy); his niece, Shelly Taranto Walker (Kelly); his two cats, Phoebe and Sadie and a host of cousins and friends. His love for them is only matched by their love for him.
While his daughters’, grandsons’, family and friends’ sorrow is deep and his loss is one that is unmeasurable in words, they are comforted knowing he is in the arms of His Savior.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity BVM Cathedral on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until Mass time. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi is honored to serve the Manuel family.
