Leslie Denise Woolard

Leslie Denise Woolard, age 53, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 in Ocean Springs, MS. She was born on September 11, 1966 in Metairie, LA. Leslie graduated from MGCCC in 2003 where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. Leslie was best known for her loving and compassionate heart. She freely offered herself to anyone who was having difficulty, whether it was an offer of her medical expertise, an attentive ear to someone struggling, or the sincere offer to just “sit with you” as she did countless times. Without hesitation, she made herself available as a safe place to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Leslie was a gifted nurse who not only took care of her patients from a clinical standard, but also from a human standard. She treated her patients with kindness and grace and got to know them on a personal level. She replaced their fear with encouragement and their concerns with hope. Her patients adored her. She was dearly, dearly loved. Leslie’s heart had such an overflow of compassion that she also gave her time to Wild at Heart Animal Rescue. Her nursing skills were invaluable as she transported and cared for rescue animals of all kinds. Leslie had a passion for music and she loved to laugh. She was a humble and gentle soul, and engrained in her heart was Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a HOPE and a FUTURE”. Leslie has now found her HOPE and her FUTURE. The angels surely rejoiced as Jesus welcomed her into His loving arms. We will love her for the rest of our lives, and even more when we get to one day see her again. She is already dearly missed. Leslie is survived by her husband, Mark Woolard; daughter, Lindsey Dean; grandchildren, Bekka Woolard and Harper Woolard; parents, Juanita Shipman and Allen L. Oehler; and siblings, Cheryl (Dan) Seevers, David (Patti) Oehler, Kerri (Scott) Owens, and Scott Pittard. A private family gathering will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wild at Heart Rescue, wildatheartrescueinc@ gmail.com Safely Home: “I am home in Heaven dear ones; Oh, so happy and bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever. Safely home in Heaven at last. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand, do it now, while life remaineth – You shall rest in Jesus ’land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh the joy to see you come!”
