Mrs. Linda Mecomber, age 55, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 in Gulfport.
Linda was born in Colorado Springs, Co and moved with her family to Long Beach, MS in 1965. She was a 1979 graduate of Long Beach High School and received a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from USM. She was passionate about “BEAMS” (Bible Education and Mission Service) where she served as a volunteer and she was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church in Gulfport. Family cookouts and birthday parties at her home were always special. We will miss our precious Linda. She was a beautiful, caring person who loved everyone and enjoyed life.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Jack E. Hopkins, Sr; her granddaughter, Skyla Autumn; and two brothers, Jack E. Hopkins, Jr. and John C. Hopkins. She is survived by her husband, Allen Landis Mecomber; two sons, Jason R. Woodcock and Mendone J. Woodcock and his wife Carolyn; step-son Greg Mecomber and his wife Patricia; her mother, Mary Polk; two brothers, James C. Hopkins and his wife Bonnie and Henry K. Polk, Jr. and his wife Debbie; five grandchildren, Serenity, Keera, Aaliyah, Trinity, and Micah; aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The doctors and nurses at Gulfport Memorial Hospital and Canon Hospice were excellent in every way. Pastor Carter and the members of Bible Baptist Church were always available to sit with Linda, continuing in prayer and spiritual support. Thank you all so much.
It was Linda’s request that donations be made to BEAMS, 15444 Duckworth Road, Gulfport, MS 39503 in lieu of flowers.
