Marie Kuluz Covacevich entered into eternal rest late in the evening on June 6, 2020 surrounded by family and friends.
Marie was born and raised with her four sisters on Point Cadet by the late Tony M. Kuluz and Annie Mozara Kuluz. She attended St. Michael Elementary, Sacred Heart High School, St. Michael Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Marie was a stay at home mother where she raised her three children, Jo Lyn, TJ, and Lisa. In the early ‘90’s she ventured into the business world and was at the helm of Covacevich Yacht and Sail with her husband Jack. Marie’s motto there was “No Cash, No Splash” and all of her customers knew she meant business!
Marie was an avid slot player and frequented most Gulf Coast Casinos, but Treasure Bay was her favorite. Cooking, raking, shopping, and sunning were activities she loved and of course, being with her children, grandchildren and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Covacevich; her parents, Annie Mozara Kuluz and Tony M. Kuluz; sisters, Dorothy Kuluz, Frances Kuluz Mattina, Anna Kuluz Thompson and Rita Kuluz Pelaez; brothers, Matthew and Anthony George Kuluz; mother and father-in-law, Tony Jack and Emma Covacevich.
She is survived by her children, Jo Lyn Hitt (Morris), TJ Covacevich (Linda McDaniel) and Lisa Covacevich (Charlie Roberts); grandchildren, Dr. Robby Williams (Shanel), Joseph Williams, Josh Covacevich (Ari), Anthony Covacevich, Mandy Thomas (Joey), Bubbie Hitt (Cassie), and Crystal McClure; her great-grandchildren, Gavyn, Kenner, Riggs and Anne Ramsey Williams, Asher Thomas, Hudson Hitt and Liam Roberts; sister, Rosalie Kuluz Galle; and special extended family members, Dr. Johnny Mallett, Ashlyn, Julian, Jordyn and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank special caregivers, Birgett Moore, Chris Covacevich and the Southern Care Hospice Staff for their love and care of our mother.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul at the parish of your choice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
