Marjorie "Margie" Flurry White

Marjorie "Margie" Flurry White, age 98, died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 leaving this earthly world to be with her Heavenly Father. Mrs. White was a longtime resident of Vancleave and was born on December 18, 1919 in Wiggins as the youngest child of Reuben and Octavia Flurry. She graduated from Daisy Vestry High School in 1937. It was there she met her future husband, and the love of her life, Elmo White. They were married on October 10, 1940. They built a home on her parents' old home place near Wiggins and resided there until 1959 when they moved to White Road in Vancleave, and Elmo went to work for International Paper Company. Elmo and Margie were married for 40 years until Elmo's death in 1980. In 1988, Margie sold her home and moved from White Road to Lake-O-Pines, where she built a new home and lived for eight years. After the death of her son in 1996, she sold her home and moved to Ocean Springs where she lived for 12 years, leaving Ocean Springs in 2008 she moved back to Vancleave where she enjoyed country life until her death. Margie was a homemaker and was devoted to her family and church. She was an active member of Red Hill United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Her faith in God, her family, and her friends were the joys of her life. She was also an avid reader and loved working crossword puzzles, sewing, and quilting. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmo; only child, a son, Alfred "Al" White; and three brothers, Clyde, Oryn, and Clark Flurry. Survivors include her nieces, Celia Fae Ross and Joan Smith; sister-in-law, Fern White; extended family and beloved caregivers, Steve and Edwina Stephenson, Jasper and Mary Ellen Pryor and many other close family and friends. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a service at 3:00 p.m., all Friday, November 23, 2018 at Red Hill United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Red Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Red Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, 19011 Old River Road, Vancleave, MS 39565 or your favorite charity. A special thanks to Hospice of Life personnel, especially Mollie, Chris, and Johnese for their love and caring of Ms. Margie during her short illness.
