Mary "Betty" Gill Caillavet

Mary "Betty" Gill Caillavet, age 83, of Ocean Springs entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. She was born September 26, 1935 in Biloxi to Mr. Mrs. Joseph Irvin Gill. She attended Catholic schools and was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. In 1953, Mary wed the love of her life, D.W. "Donnie" Caillavet. They traveled with his military career for 21 years before retiring to a family homestead in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Caillavet was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She exemplified that love, comfort, peace, and caring to everyone she met in life. The most precious things in her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They meant everything to her. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, D.W. "Donnie" Caillavet, Sr.; and parents, Irvin and Mary Veronica "Mamie" Gill. Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Kenny) Vaughn; sons, Donald "Rocky" (Sandra) Caillavet, Jr. and David (Marie) Caillavet; brothers, Joseph "Joe" Gill, Jr. and James "Pat" Gill; sister-in-law, Helen Gill; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a profound thanks to SAAD's Healthcare team. Gloria Kostmayer and Mamie Salter, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts for the care, friendship, and "special" attention provided to our mother. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff of nurses and doctors on 2 West at Ocean Springs Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow the mass at Crestlawn Memorial Park. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
