Mena Terry Koch

Mena Terry Koch, age 99, of Ocean Springs, was born November 19, 1921 in Biloxi and passed away on April 9, 2021 at her home in Ocean Springs. Prior to moving to Ocean Springs she and her husband John traveled world wide while he served as an officer in the United States Air force. After his retirement they traveled all over the United States in their motor home, making their home base in Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. After John’s death Mena moved to Ocean Springs to be close to her family. Mena was an exceptionally talented seamstress—sewing for her sisters, and all of her family and friends. She belonged to the Harrison County Homemakers Club where she enjoyed the companionship and friendship of all the members. She entered all of the competitions locally and state wide with her crafts and sewing skills. Mena won well over 100 Blue Ribbons for her talent. She was a life long member of The Church of The Redeemer in Biloxi. She was an active member of The Episcopal Church Women, St. Mary’s Guild and The Birds and Butterflies. Mena was also an active volunteer for Loves and Fishes. She was preceded in death by her husband John Koch, her parents Henry and Mena Terry, her son and daughter in law Fred and Doreen Gill, her grandson Lance Gill, her brothers George “Bunk” Terry, Chester Terry, and Henry Terry, and her sisters Dorothy Toch, Elvira Higgins, Ruth Walters, Vivian Rogers and Ruby Gautier. Mena is survived by grandsons Chris Gill, Fred Gill and John Gill, great granddaughters Kayla (Suraj) Bali and Rebecca Gill, sisters Doris Weems and Eleanor Chapel, sisters in law Mary Lee Terry and Rita Terry, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer thanks to Saads Home Health Care for the excellent care Mena received these last months. A very special thank you from the family to Bea Jacquet, Mena’s longtime friend and caretaker, for her love and devotion to Mena. Bless you Bea. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of The Redeemer Pops Ferry Rd. on Saturday, April 24. A private burial in Florida will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers Mena’s request was for donations to Loaves and Fishes 610 Water St. Biloxi, MS 39530. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gill family.
