Michael R. Dubaz

Michael Rudolph Dubaz, age 66, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 2, 2018. Michael was born in Biloxi, MS on July 20, 1951 to Lawrence “Larry” Dubaz Sr. and Ramona (Trebotich) Dubaz. Michael was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and a member of Biloxi High School’s class of 1969, where among many other activities, he was most proud of playing percussion and representing as the Band Captain. He was also voted most kind by his peers. Early on in Michael’s career he went to work offshore for Texaco as a Navigator in the oil and exploration field. After his career with Texaco, he set his sight on the gaming industry where he worked for The Casino Magic, The Lady Luck and finally the Palace Casino which was his 2nd family. After 19 years with the Palace Casino he retired July 2017. Michael was also a member of the Slavic Benevolent Association and was of Catholic faith. Michael had several interests and hobbies which included cooking the best pot of chicken and sausage gumbo, his love of horse racing, his annual trip to New York, and playing Booray. These combined couldn’t surpass his love of the time he spent with his grandchildren which was his greatest joy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence “Larry” Dubaz Sr. and Ramona (Trebotich) Dubaz and brother, Lawrence “Larry” Dubaz Jr. He is survived by his brother, Danny (Susan) Dubaz; his first wife, Cynthia Galle; his second wife and best friend, Cheryl Dubaz; his son, Michael (Amanda) Dubaz; his daughters, Ramona (Perry) Grice and Linley (Jonathon) Forehand; and his step daughter, Kimberly Breal. He is also survived by his grandchildren who will miss him dearly, Saje Dronet, Connor & Blythe Dubaz, Savanah, Ava Marie and Juliana Grice, Bryleigh Forehand and Dallas Graham. Michael had several nicknames given to him during his life, “Tank”, “Big Mike”, “the Don”, “Don Juan”, “the Governor”, “Dancing Bear”, but his proudest of all was “Poppa”! Michael was incredibly funny with a great sense of humor and he had the most generous heart. It’s an understatement to say that during his life he met many people from all over the country who Michael became great friends with. Michael knew just about everyone and everyone knew him. He was deeply loved and will be missed greatly! Visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2018 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi, MS from 10am-12pm with a service at 12pm. Burial will follow at the Biloxi City Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place after the burial at the Slavic Benevolent Association (Slavonian Lodge) on 159 Maple Street, Biloxi.
