Mr. Ray “L.C.” Ingram, age 91 of Vancleave, MS passed away on May 4, 2021.
If you’ve ever stopped in Vancleave early in the morning to grab a cup of coffee, you’ve probably met Mr. Ray “L.C.” Ingram. Born in Laurel, MS in July of 1929, he served in the US Army, attaining the rank of Sargent in nine months. After graduating from USM, Ray moved with his young family to the coast in 1967, beginning a lifelong career as an educator in the Vancleave school district. He may have taught you math or driver’s ed, driven your school bus, or coached your football team. However you knew him, you’d never know he was 91 years old, because he had the look of a much younger man. Ray enjoyed the thrift stores, westerns, cable news, and his family, most of the time. He did not enjoy cats, but he put up with them because his wife would have thrown him out if he didn’t, and because he loved her.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Leona Ingram; and his seven siblings, Lester, Raymond, Norman, Alton, Goldie, Jewel, and Ruby.
He is most recently preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, his Marie.
Survivors include his three children, Mark (Edith) Ingram, Scott (Annette) Ingram and Jennifer (Charles) Wright; six grandchildren, Shelley Ingram, Dawn (Adam) Webb, Samantha (Travis) Hall, Marcie (Brandon) Keen, Erica (Mike) Guy, and Christopher Nolan Ingram; and ten great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service to follow at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Vancleave, MS.
