LtCol Myrtle Yvonne Dougherty, age 92, of Biloxi, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
Ms. Dougherty was born in Booneville, Mississippi in 1925 to her parents, James and Arrie Pounds. She lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast after she and her husband retired from the USAF. Ms. Dougherty served in the Air Force for 20 years, specializing in operating room nursing. She was active in volunteering after her retirement, working at the Retiree Affairs office in the Sablich Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Dorris Boyer, Norma Umfress, Willie Pounds, and Elbert Smith Pounds; and her husband, William Edward Dougherty, Lt Col USAF.
She is survived by niece, Marilyn Umfress (Memphis, TN) and nephew, Jeffery Boyer (Kentucky).
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
