Oral Mae Senseney, of Ocean Springs, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the age of 91.
Oral Mae was born September 19, 1927, in Ocean Springs, MS, to the late Charles and Emily (Toche) Ryan. She attended Ocean Springs High School, where she was a cheerleader and graduated as Salutatorian at the age of 16. After graduation, Oral Mae entered into a career at Keesler Air Force Base as an Administrative Assistant, until she retired after thirty years of service. On March 3, 1946, she married the love of her life, Anthony B. Senseney, of Biloxi. They were devoted to each other and together they raised ten children, six boys and four girls. She was of the Catholic Faith, and a life-long member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.
She was involved in many clubs and organizations throughout her life. She was a member of the Duchess Club, Le Femmes Carnival Association and was Queen of the VFW Post 5699 Mardi Gras Ball. She was an avid card player, and enjoyed playing Canasta with The Gulf Coast Women’s Card Association on Tuesday. Also, she enjoyed watching sports and was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan. But, watching the New Orleans Saints play football was her passion. It came as no surprise to anyone that she chose a Sunday afternoon during the Saints game to give up her life. She had a love for cooking, and was an integral part of the family restaurant, Port-O-Call, and could often be found behind the register greeting the customers. She was known for her sassy sense of humor, her infectious smile and laughter, and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Oral Mae was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Anthony (Blake); a son, Marlan Rocky Senseney; two granddaughters, Kristin Senseney and Jessica Senseney; and her four siblings, Alma (Don) Eglin, Charles Wesley (Mable) Ryan, Sr., Emily (Charles) Duffy, and Mickey (Mary) Ryan.
She is survived by her children, Susan Senseney, Blake (Sandy) Senseney, Bonnie Senseney, Rodney (Kathileen) Senseney, Sr., Blaise Senseney, Kerry (Stacey) Senseney, Shawn Senseney, Lisa (David) Malley, and Holli (Jeff) Tebor. She will be sadly missed by two beloved family members, Rosemarie Vanacore and Shannon Stewart; Sister-in-law, Inez (Bernard) Senseney; and Brother-in-law, Phillip (Red) Senseney. She cherished her eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-granchildren and one great-great grandson. She was blessed to have numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that will respectfully remember her. She was comforted by her caregiver, Mrs. Sherry Waltman, in the final days of her life. A special thanks also to Dr. Richard Smith and Dr. Bassam Baroudi.
Her life will be celebrated through a visitation on Wednesday, November 7, from 6pm until 8pm, with an 8pm Rosary, at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. A 10:45am procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday, November 8 for an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park Cemetery, Biloxi.
