Patricia Mary Margaret Myllykangas

Patricia Mary Margaret Myllykangas- “Pat”, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, age 67, of Vancleave, MS, passed away surrounded by her family on April 26, 2021. Pat was born in Schnectady, New York on July 21, 1953 and was raised alongside her 10 brothers and sisters. In 1997 she relocated to the Mississippi Gulf with her three younger children Nathan, Michelle, and James. She met her soul mate and best friend of 20 years, Paul Myllykangas in 2001. They built a life together that many only dreams of. He was her rock, and her his. Paul walked beside her through thick and thin until her passing. Pat and Paul were blessed to have Evan enter their lives as a young child, and they raised their firstborn grandson as their own son. He will forever in her eyes be their son, for which she will always be extremely proud of. Pat’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, her pride and joy in this life. While her earthly family will deeply miss her, it is a pure joy knowing she has reunited with her heavenly family. When Pat was not hosting another family dinner, or attending church services, she would fill her spare time doing carpentry. Her latest project, which she was putting together as her health declined, was the dollhouse she was putting together with her granddaughters. Her granddaughters brought her so much joy. “Gammaw” will always hold a special place in their hearts and are thankful that she is “with God, Jesus and all of the other angels” in Heaven. The last few years of her life, Pat slowed down and enjoyed strolls along the beach with her daughter Michelle, as they reminisced of old times and enjoyed the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend of 20 years, Paul Myllykangas; her children, Patrick “PJ”, Daniel, Stephen, Nathan, Michelle, and James; her grandson, in which she raised, Evan; two beautiful granddaughters, Rielyn and Berkley; and her daughter-in-law, Leanna. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael, Kathy, David, Donald, and Judy; and countless family and friends. She will also be dearly missed by her friends and fellow parishioners at St. Elizabeth Seton and St. Alphonsus Catholic Churches in Ocean Springs, where she has attended faithfully since returning to the Coast in 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Morris & Patricia Rollier Morris; her siblings, Deborah Morris, Susan Gelwick, Albert Morris, and Timothy Morris; and her firstborn son, Stanley “Junior” Olshefsky Jr. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. with funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
