Patsy Kay (Phillips) Bannister passed away on August 3, 2021, after a brief battle of pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Clarence “Bud” Bannister; her daughter, Donna Bisson (Michael); her son, David Bannister (Pam); son in law, Michael Barton; her brother, Keith Phillips (Millie); and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Deborah Kay Barton. Patsy was born on April 7th, 1941, in Austin, Texas where she grew up with her special cousin, Barbra Allen. After graduating high school, she joined the United States Navy where she met the love of her life, Bud Bannister. This September 2nd would have marked 60 years of marriage. After being a proud Navy wife and raising her 3 children, Patsy showcased her creative talents by opening up her own business-"Touch of the South", a florist shop and expanded her business to include wedding planning. She will always be remembered for her expert seamstress skills which included making her daughters’ formal and wedding gowns. In addition, she made beautiful quilts for gifts that will be cherished. After retiring, she stayed busy playing bridge where she became a Master bridge player. She was an avid cruiser and reached Diamond status. Patsy will be remembered for her strong character and love for her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, St. Jude’s or charity of your choice. A private service for family will be performed at the National Cemetery in Biloxi with full military honors. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, is honored to serve the Bannister family.
