Phyllis Ann Marchese

Phyllis Ann Marchese, 83, of D’Iberville, MS, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2021 in Ocean Springs, MS. Phyllis was born in Chicago on March 6, 1938. She married Peter Marchese in 1956 and relocated to Biloxi, MS in 1980. After Katrina, they spent nine years in Hattiesburg before relocating to D’Iberville. Their final move in 2019 was to Lighthouse Assisted Living and Memory Care in Ocean Springs due to Dementia and Alzheimer’s. They were married for 63 years. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved cooking, baking, traveling, music, flowers, ice cream, chocolate and Pepsi. Phyllis was a active member of Al-Anon support groups for over 25 years helping others through sponsorship and service work. She was also a student at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Southern Mississippi-Hattiesburg. Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marion and Harold Phillips; her husband, Peter Marchese; daughter, Laura Marchese. She is survived by her daughter, Liz (John) Gaulke of D’Iberville; son, Greg Marchese (Tammy Nelson) of Gulfport; granddaughters, Sharon (Robert) Shavers of Gulfport; Megan Gaulke (Trey Symington) of Starkville; Anna Marchese of Houston; Claire Marchese of Gulfport and great-grandchildren, Kannon Varnado and Emma Shavers of Gulfport. Memorial donations may be sent to Notre Dame Hospice of Mississippi in honor of Phyllis at 5407 Indian Hill Dr., Diamondhead, MS 39525 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl.17, Chicago, IL 60601 A service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Bradford-O’Keefe, 2511 Pass Rd. in Biloxi followed by a reception. Our mother’s urn will be placed with our father’s at a later time. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road in Biloxi, is honored to serve the Marchese family.
